Amiga 1.2 Workbench Video
| | This video shows what Amiga workbench 1.2 was like and how advanced it was. This video was created by techguruuk at http://www.youtube.com/user/techguruuk |
This was the OS that ran on my Amiga 1000 in around 1985-7. To set the scene for you youngsters, Multi-Tasking, we all should know what that means except you iPod and soon iPad users :-)
At this time computer users were used to silent or squeaky noise generators, maybe a maximum of 4 and if really lucky 16 colours on screen and definately NO MULTI-TASKING. So imagine a computer that had up to 4096 colours on screen at once and could play sampled music while running an animation all at the same time, amazing, ground breaking and world changing. Yes, as it says in the video Multi-Tasking arrived on Windows in 1995 with Windows 95, and Apple got Multi Tasking in 2001 with OSX. But Amiga also started the Video Revolution and the Multi Media revolution we all take for granted, and yet it was considered just a games machine by foolish people.
